1) Junior Designer, Port Carling ON

Our ideal design candidate is both friendly and approachable, aligning with the Crown & Birch team spirit. This individual must be available to work in-store, as well as independently from home as needed. 

Our ideal new team member listens to our clients needs, assesses them to determine what they are looking for, addresses issues in both form and function, and facilitates our clients in achieving their design goals.

This new designer will be required to gain a thorough understanding of Crown & Birch’s product catalogue. Since starting in the design business, we have nurtured relationships with over 100 vendors, thus skills in communication are an important asset for this position. 

You will attend in-home consultations with a senior designer, until you are prepared to go on your own. Organizational skills and self-sufficiency are required as documentation for design projects (measurements, photos, etc.) will be your responsibility.

You will assist senior designers with selections for client presentations. Once a presentation is approved, you will be responsible for completing estimates, invoices, and placing purchase orders. 

You will be required to complete detailed floor plans, elevations, and mood boards, within the Crown & Birch framework, in order to best convey our vision to our clients. Finish selection such as tile, millwork, flooring etc. is also a requirement in order to bring that vision to reality. 

You will assist your assigned senior designer in coordinating and managing third-party service providers such as delivery personnel, contractors, and tradespeople. 

The ideal candidate is effective in both communication and time management, and is capable of completing assigned tasks on time, with little supervision. We are looking for people who are able to problem solve, in order to offer the best customer experience possible. 

Using your own unique skill set, you will occasionally assist with internal operations and projects such as photography, digital and graphic design, and/or social media management depending on your individual time parameters and skill level. 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

  • Proficient with Google software, Google Sketchup, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and AutoCAD
  • 1-2 years experience in a interior design capacity, with a degree in interior design or equivalent is a strong asset 
  • Extremely organized and professional 
  • Strong problem solving skills with a desire for best customer service outcomes

2) Sales Associate, Thunder Bay ON (Full-time)

Our ideal sales associate is both friendly and approachable, aligning with the Crown & Birch team spirit. This individual must be available to work in-store, at our Thunder Bay location, Tuesday-Saturday. 

Our ideal new team member is passionate about interior spaces and stays up-to-date on current styles and trends within interior design. As sales associate, this person is the primary point of contact for Crown & Birch customers, providing exceptional customer services by responding to customer needs promptly and professionally. This individual must have excellent people skills, providing helpful, 'no-pressure' help to in-store customers. In addition, you will assist managers and designers to ensure that operational tasks are successfully completed.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

  • Experience in sales or customer service are a strong asset
  • Proficient with Google software (Gmail, Sheets, etc.)
  • Experience in QuickBooks is a strong asset
  • Extremely organized, paying close attention to detail
  • Strong problem solving skills with a desire for best customer service outcomes
  • Excellent communication skills (spoken and written)
